How Goes It? It Goes Well.

The writing of the new and improved Journeys of Shelby Bly is going well. I’m up to Chapter 4 of 8 plus I have the Prologue written and still need to write the Epilogue. One thing I’ve noticed about the new story is that there is far less talk and far more action. I’m still curious how I’m going to pull some of this stuff off… like the car chase scenes. I’ll manage somehow and when I do, I will amaze myself as is my way. LOL

I don’t think I’ll be changing the characters much, at least not their looks or basic personality and motives. I had intended for Shelby to have a “journal entry” at the beginning of each chapter but that idea has been tossed out. Now, the story will speak for itself. I think it will be better this way. Also, Shelby and her father are no longer estranged. She has just been gone for the past few years to attend university. The Prologue will be a flashback of when things went sour between David Bly and Luisa Marinella to give both characters more to do in the story and explain things a bit better without having to type it all out. A character that was going to pop in out of nowhere in Chapter 5 will now be introduced in Chapter 1, meaningfully.

Once I get the current draft of the story finished, I will go back over it with a keen eye and try to fix what I can. After that, I will write the script and start on new illustrations. I just want this story to be my best yet and be proud to have it printed. That’s why I’m working on it day and night. Not all night, I work better if I have some sleep.

I’ve been trying to take the time to do some cleaning so Dad will let me go to St. Louis to meet Stevie for the Japanese Festival. I’ve done some today but I’m sure he’ll say it’s not enough. I’ll do some more tomorrow but dammit, I have more important things to do. It’s Mom’s house, so she says, she should clean it.

I need to get more commercial work done. Eventually, my first product will be approved for the new shop and then I’ll need something else to submit. (Yes, I know it’s been over two weeks.) I’ve got one product waiting in the wings but after that, I have nothing. I’m going to browse through my magical “notebook of ideas” and see if there’s anything which appeals to me.

The parental units are finally home and the weather channel says it’s going to storm soon. I need to get some more work done before I am called to be the Mighty Protector of Chihuahuas During Thunderstorms. That is, if Aayla doesn’t go running under the furniture for cover first or if Chi-Chi decides to sit by Mom instead. Both are little chicken dogs.

It’s now the first of the month. I should be getting paid between now and the 15th from a couple sites. Yay! I need to make some new products so I can continue to rake in the cash. More products = more money and more money = more products for me!

I’m off to get more work done…
